Accreditation for Antarctica
With the what seems like never-ending snow piling up, and the temperatures constantly dropping, it didn't surprise me to learn that where I reside was colder than Antarctica. As I look out the window and see snow continuing to fall, or as I dread going out to the mailbox, or letting the dog in due to the freezing temperatures, I'm reminded why I love it here. Not to mention my amazing family and friends, this is where I've always lived. I couldn't imagine anything else.
Then the Lord told me differently. He told me to stop living comfortably, and to go overseas where the people need me to share Jesus with them. When I applied for NewLife International School of Midwifery, I didn't really understand what accreditation meant. I just assumed that I could be a midwife anywhere because, well, everyone needs a midwife... right? Apparently I was wrong, because graduating from NewLife wouldn't give me the accreditation needed to work in the United States.
After guidance from my parents, I've decided to dual-enroll with the National College of Midwifery in the United States. Once I complete the course requirements and graduate from NewLife, I will have a dual-enrollment certification. If a problem arises overseas after my training at NewLife, and I need to come back home to the United States, I would be able to get a job as a midwife in the U.S. That means that I will be accredited to work basically anywhere in the world as a missionary midwife...whether in Africa, the Philippines, or my own little home town that feels like Antarctica.
The only "problem" with this dual-enrollment is that it will cost $8,300, upfront, to register. I'm trusting that God will provide in time to register for the program and then go to NewLife in the Philippines, but if you feel led to give towards my tuition at NewLife International School of Midwifery, or towards my registration for dual-enrollment through NCM, it would be greatly appreciated. And PLEASE pray for me and that the necessary funds would be provided. Thank you!!
