God's Handiwork

Ephesians 2:10- For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

This last week has been a whirlwind of emotions and new experiences. After many long days of flying, we finally arrived on January 11th in Tabuk. We were greeted by some of the kindest people, and the other three missionary volunteers have been so sweet at showing us around, explaining how to do things, and just spending quality time bonding with us. We started orientation and a few cultural classes to help us better adjust. Jet lag was not the nicest (I mean, going 13 hours ahead isn't an easy task), but thankfully we are starting to come out of it.

The other three missionary volunteers have shown us their favorite coffee shops, the market, how to catch/ride a tricey, and just how to do normal life in a foreign country. We helped with the Sunday school at the church, and I loved just being able to meet everyone. It's fun to laugh and bond and experience life with these ladies.

Our view from the balcony (where we spend most of our time) is absolutely breathtaking. We are surrounded by beautiful mountains, lush, green trees, and rice fields that reflect the morning sun. The weather has been perfect for me. Sunny and warm during the day, and cooler at night. Pictures cannot capture the beauty here.

Early this morning, 4:30am, I was called in to witness a birth. Mama did great in delivering her sweet baby girl, and I loved watching the midwife show compassion and love towards her. From the moment I saw the head crowning I knew that I was here for the right reason. It was amazing to see all the midwives work together and how ready they were for any situation.

This experience reminded me of Ephesians 2:10 where it talks about how we are God's handiwork and how He has prepared us to do things for His glory. As I watched the midwife support the mother and encourage the baby out, I thought of how God is supporting us and encouraging us as we help bring others to a knowledge of Him and when we do the things He has prepared us to do for His glory.

The compassion from the midwife towards the mother paints a picture of how God shows us compassion. It allows me to visualize the joy that God feels when we bring forth new life and when we use our talents for His glory.

I am looking forward to seeing how the Lord uses me this week and in the many weeks to come. Thank you all again for the continuous love and support!! I look forward to having information to update with, and I also look forward to hearing from you.
